Happy New Year, teachers! 🎉 It’s one of our favorite times of the year at Cool English. We are thrilled to announce the release of our annual tradition—with a brand new name and a massive upgrade.

Introducing 2025 Rewind (formerly Year in Review)! ✨

Every January, this activity helps students look back at the biggest moments of the past year. It is one of the best ways to get your class speaking, debating, and reminiscing. But this year, we’ve taken it to the next level with new features to make your lessons smoother and more interactive.

🌟 What’s New in 2025 Rewind?

We listened to your feedback and packed this activity with features to support Reading, Listening, and Speaking skills:

• 15 Curated Stories: We picked the 15 biggest stories of 2025. Best of all? No violent or sad news. These are fun, interesting, and culture-focused topics safe for every classroom (think new tech, trends, and pop culture!). 🌍

• Total Control: You can now reveal the headline and reveal the description separately. This is perfect for building suspense and scaffolding the lesson.

• Audio Included: Need listening practice? We added high-quality audio readings for both the headlines and the full stories. 🎧

• Gamification: We included a Random Story Selector for spontaneous fun and a Matching Game to test memory. 🎮

• Offline Support: There is now a downloadable PDF version for teachers who need a low-tech option or printed handouts. 📄
  

💡 How to Use It in Class

This activity is designed to maximize student speaking time. Here is a simple, effective flow you can use:

1. Select a Story: Open the main board. You’ll see categories like Technology, Food & Trends, and Education. Pick one that interests your class, or hit the "Random" button! 🎲

2. Elicit & Predict: Show the students the image before revealing any text. Ask them: "What do you think happened here?" or "What story does this picture represent?" Let them guess and use their English descriptive skills. 🗣️

3. Reveal & Discuss: Click to Show Headline. Did they guess correctly? Discuss the topic briefly.

4. Deep Dive: Click to Show Description or play the Audio. Have students listen or read along, then ask comprehension questions or ask for their opinions. "Do you agree with this trend?" "Did this happen in your country?"

5. Review: Assign the Matching Game (matching headlines to images) as a fun wrap-up activity or for homework! 🧩
