Hello, teachers! Welcome back to the Cool English blog.
One of the biggest challenges for English learners is mastering words that seem similar but follow completely different rules. When should they use make instead of do? Why is it borrow and not lend?
To help your students build confidence with these common problem areas, we’re excited to announce four new and improved additions to our Confusing Words vocabulary series.
What's New This Week?
We’ve upgraded two popular classics and added two brand-new word pairs:
To vs. For (Version 2) ✨ Improved
Make vs. Do (Version 2) ✨ Improved
Lend vs. Borrow 🆕 Brand New
Say vs. Tell 🆕 Brand New
A Complete Learning Experience
Each set gives teachers everything they need to introduce, practice, review, and test these tricky vocabulary pairs. Every module includes four easy-to-use sections:
1. Learn Clear rules, meanings, and visual examples to introduce the concepts.
2. Practice Guided exercises with hints to help students apply what they just learned.
3. Review — 4 Interactive Mini-Games Students can review the target words through a variety of engaging activities:
Spot the Errors: Find the wrong word in each sentence before time runs out.
Chat Gap Fill: Complete everyday text message conversations.
Conveyor Belt: Choose the correct word before the card falls off the belt.
Video Practice: Watch short clips from popular movies and shows, guess the missing word, and reveal the answer.
4. Final Test A 20-question test with True/False and fill-in-the-blank questions. Students receive an automatic grade and helpful feedback.
Downloadable Study Sheets Included
Every Confusing Words set also includes a downloadable PDF study sheet, giving teachers more flexibility for classwork, homework, or review.
Teacher Tip: Start with the interactive Learn and Practice sections together on the smartboard, then assign the PDF or the interactive review games for homework.
