Hey guys, hope you’re having a great weekend. This week I added a lot of Basic level stuff as there have been many requests. The first one I wanted to share is 100 Conversation Questions basic edition. I’ve had a couple more advanced versions on the site for a while now but this one has easier questions and topics. I really love this activity and use it almost every week.
Here are some of the ways I like to use it.
Use the 2-minute timer and tell them they need to answer all 4 questions, trying to use around 30 seconds per question. I think this is a great way to create a little pressure, get them to use transitions, and build time management for test prep.
Separate the class into 2 teams and have them alternately choose someone from the opposing team to ask one of the four questions. If they respond correctly, they get a point. Alternating for 3-4 topics and whichever team has more points at the end wins. For individual students set a goal like 10 points.
Open discussion in the class sometimes alternating between them asking me questions and me asking them or just having them ask each other. I like to have them try to create 2-3 more questions on the selected topic to see how they can create questions on the spot.
Homework, have the students record a 2-minute audio and send it to you with them answering all 4 questions.
I will be sharing all the new Basic level activities throughout this week. Hopefully, they will help and please let me know if you have any feedback.
John

Great ideas for getting students to speak more naturally, especially with the timed activities and team discussions. In my free time, I like to switch from learning to playing Geometry Dash Lite since it's a fun way to relax and challenge my reflexes after studying.
Great collection of basic conversation questions—really useful for daily English practice and building confidence in speaking. I like how simple and practical they are for beginners. After going through exercises like this, I usually relax and play a bit of golf hit unblocked to clear my mind before the next study session
